During remarks delivered Wednesday at the Mosack Group in Mint Hill, North Carolina, President Trump discussed the assassination attempts on his life and how intensely foreign nations and enemies of freedom oppose his return to the White House.
“As you know, there have been two assassination attempts on my life that we know of,” he said.
Trump said Iran may have been involved in both of those attempts, but we “can’t be sure” because the FBI has been “unable to open” the three potentially foreign-based apps on the first shooter’s phone (Butler, Pennsylvania) and the phone information for the second alleged shooter (Ryan Routh), who allegedly had six cell phones in the car, the president said.
“Who was he calling?” Trump asked. “…In the old days the FBI and the DOJ used to capture people BEFORE anything happens and in current days the upper echelons of the FBI is ALL TALK while they focus on the current president’s political opponents.”
President Trump said the FBI “must get APPLE to open these foreign apps…we have a lot at stake, where it’s me or any other former president.”
Late Tuesday night, President Trump said Iran was making “threats” on his life, and his campaign stated that he had been briefed by the Office of National Intelligence on the matter.
During his remarks in North Carolina, President Trump contrasted his leadership style against the current administration.
He said if he was president again, he would never allow a foreign nation to threaten any candidate in such a way. Trump said he would tell any offending countries, “We are going to blow your largest cities and the country itself to smithereens…you can’t do that. And there would be no more threats.”
The leadership in America is not capable of projecting that kind of strength.
“We don’t even know WHO our president is right now,” Trump said.
He said, “Around the world our enemies are desperate to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House because they know I will make America great again – they don’t want that.”
President Trump pointed out that the country was strong and feared while he was in the White House.
“Four years ago our country was feared and respected and our country will soon be feared and respected again,” he said.
The president continued, “And that’s why we all need to pull together to thwart these attempts and bring back American strength, power, and prestige. No threat will shake me, no enemy will intimidate me, and I have never been more determined than I am today and I will never back down in my fight to make America great again.”
