45th President and 47th President-Elect Donald J. Trump announced Sunday that Tom Homan would be joining his upcoming administration as a “Border Czar” to oversee the anticipated nationwide deportation operation and the restoration of America’s sovereignty.
According to the president:
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.”
But who is Tom Homan? Political aficionados will likely remember his time leading the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) removal operations during the first Trump administration. He retired before the end of President Trump’s term.
He’s known for being a tough and no-nonsense leader on the issue of illegal immigration.
President Trump’s promise to implement the largest deportation operation in history to remove millions of unvetted foreign aliens from American soil was perhaps the cornerstone of his 2024 campaign, therefore Homan’s appointment will determine the success of fulfilling that promise.
Deportations are expected to begin on day one of Trump’s administration – January 20, 2025. There will be no grace period for illegal entrants, either, according to Homan.
He told Fox News this week:
“Criminals and gang members get no grace period. While we’re out prioritizing the public safety threats and national security threats, if you wanna self-deport, you should self-deport because, again, we know who you are, and we’re gonna come and find you.”
Homan noted that illegal aliens who are in the country but who have committed the sole crime of entering America unlawfully – but have otherwise not committed a heinous offense – are welcome to put their affairs in order and self-deport before January 20. The Trump administration will prioritize removing violent offenders, rapists, cartel members, and terrorists first.
Homan also said recently on Fox that he has received phone calls and texts from “thousands” of ICE agents, Border Patrol agents, and retired agents and military who want to volunteer to assist in the deportation operation and the re-securing of the border.
Unfortunately, Homan said he has been receiving “death threats” ahead of spearheading this integral operation, but he assured Americans he will not be deterred from his mission.
“They’re not going to bully me away, they’re not going to shut me up, they’re not going to make me go away,” he said. “This is the biggest national security vulnerability this nation has seen since 9/11 – we have to fix it!”
