President Donald Trump delivered remarks at a solemn remembrance event at Trump National Doral in Miami commemorating the horrific attacks carried out in Israel one year ago on October 7 by Hamas terrorists.
The savage attacks claimed the lives of more than 1,200 innocent victims in 2023 and ignited an ongoing and escalating conflict in the Middle East, whereby Israel has suffered continuing violence and war.
“We are here in solemn remembrance of one of the darkest hours in all of human history,” President Trump.
He acknowledged the difficult weather in the Miami area, given the recent Category 5 label Hurricane Milton has been given – a major storm system that is making its way toward Florida – and noted he was perhaps one of the only people flying into Florida instead of out.
“We’re praying for Florida and we hope everyone is safe,” Trump noted.
The president reflected on the horrible attacks on Israel one year ago, describing the actions of Hamas as “chilling savagery” and “demonic.”
“It seemed as if the gates of hell had sprung open and unleashed their horrors onto the world,” he said.
The president told the Jewish community of the fallen that today, “we honor them with grace and gratitude for their lives.”
Trump highlighted the importance of remembering the day moving forward. “We grieve with you, we stand with you, and we make this sacred vow…NEVER AGAIN,” he said.
He said Americans would never forget the hostages who are still being held by Hamas, and stated, “Through the darkness, they know that we have not forgotten them, we will never forsake them, and we will never abandoned them, and with God’s help, they will come home.”
He said living up to the vow of never allowing such an attack to happen included never forgetting.
“Never, ever forget,” he said.
The president also elevated the special alliance between Israel and the United States.
“Are our hearts are united with you…we have to win this election, there’s tremendous consequences for everything,” he said.
