In a sweet moment onstage in Fayetteville, North Carolina, a Vietnam War veteran named Dwight explained why he gave his purple heart to President Donald Trump.

“You’ve got guts,” Dwight said onstage, reflecting on the moment when President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania, and then rose from the ground with his fist raised in the air.

“Fight! Fight! Fight!” he told the crowd that fateful day on July 13, 2024.

The moving moment served as a prologue to the veteran’s question regarding how President Trump would address the increasing rate of veteran homelessness in America especially in light of the illegal immigration crisis.

“We’re going to have to take people out,” Trump said, committing to a deportation operation.

The president said that one of the things that “most angers me about this” is the “21 million people plus” who have illegally immigrated here and received government aid while American veterans remain homeless and uncared for.

“We’re going to take care of your people and your friends,” President Trump vowed.
