President Donald Trump delivered remarks on Thursday at The Economic Club of New York, where he presented in great detail an economic plan aimed at restoring American strength.

The president’s remarks were somewhat somber. He spoke in a quiet room, which proved to be a stark contrast from his normally colorful rally presentations peppered with cheering and jokes.

The speech focused heavily on eviscerating the policies set forth by Kamala Harris – the policies she is responsible for propagating currently and the ones she is purporting to support going forward.

“Communism is the past, freedom is the future,” said President Trump.

He slammed “Comrade Harris” for her war on American energy independence and the unfettered open-border invasion bringing “record numbers of terrorists, human traffickers, and sex traffickers” into the United States.

Trump highlighted the important decision voters will soon make in November.

“This election will decide whether we reward Kamala Harris with reelection and four more years of crime, economic calamity, and international humiliation or whether we change that direction and once again build the greatest economy in the history of the world which we had during the Trump administration,” he said.

He also warned the audience that Kamala Harris “fundamentally rejects freedom and embraces Marxism, communism, and fascism.”

The president explained:

“She is promising communist price controls, wealth confiscation, energy annihilation, reparations, the largest tax increase ever imposed and mass amnesty and citizenship for tens of millions of migrants who will consume trillions of dollars in federal benefits and destroy Social Security and Medicare.”

The president deftly highlighted his accomplishments during his first term – like negotiating the USMCA trade agreement, increasing domestic oil production, and cutting domestic regulations – while simultaneously presenting a vision for the future.

“I am promising low taxes, low regulations, low energy costs, low interest rates, secure borders, low, low, low, crime and surging income for citizens of every race, religion, color and creed,” he vowed.

Trump promised to launch a “historic campaign to liberate our economy from crippling regulations,” and said his prospective administration would eliminate a minimum of 10 old regulations for every one new regulations.

He further vowed to embrace “industries of the future” and promised to make America the world leader in crypto and bitcoin. This comment drew applause from an otherwise very quiet crowd.

Notably, President Trump also announced that at the suggestion of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, he would create a “Government Efficiency Commission” that would be tasked with conducting a “complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.”

The commission would make recommendations for “drastic reforms,” he said. Musk would also head the task force.

Here are additional highlights from the president’s remarks:

  • Trump promised to make the Trump Tax Cuts permanent,
  • He reiterated his vow to implement a “No Tax on Tips” policy,
  • Trump said that if Kamala Harris eliminates his tax cuts, it will increase American taxes overall by over $5 trillion,
  • Under a Trump administration, he said, “America will encourage domestic production instead of punishing it,”
  • Implement a pro-American trade policy using tariffs to encourage manufacturing and production here at home,
  • Trump really hammered home his stance that “smart tariffs will not create inflation – they will combat inflation,”
  • The president warned (as he has in the past) that under a Harris-Walz administration, America would slide into a depression reminiscent of what happened in 1929.
