The Democrat National Convention this week has been one for the books. As attendees have reportedly received free abortions and vasectomies from a Planned Parenthood mobile clinic near the event, the convention has featured an array of speakers making bombastic claims that, in another reality, would be the fodder of endless comic material.
Between Tim Walz’s awkward walkout to former First Lady Michelle Obama’s out-of-the-blue claim that she became a mother by using IVF, the DNC spent most of its time bashing President Trump.
Honestly, it’s a shame. Rather than focus on policy, the convention attacked their political opponent over and over, even going so far as to display leaked text messages from First Lady Melania Trump on the jumbotron in an attempted drag.
Mrs. Obama suggested that the job Trump was seeking to reclaim “might just be one of those Black jobs,” in an apparent jab at the 45th president’s skin color. None of which should matter, but this is the DNC, so of course it’s a talking point.
Former President Barack Obama said political opponents (read: Republicans or conservatives) play on people’s “fears and cynicism.”
He also said, “They will tell you that government is inherently corrupt.”
Because the government has never done anything unethical or wrong. Ever.
Former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham also made an appearance this week, claiming Trump had “no empathy” or morals.
Again, nothing about policy – nothing about how Kamala Harris would actually CHANGE the country for the betterment of our people or preserve our constitutional republic.
The convention has been focused on attacking Trump, hitting emotional chords, and attacking Trump again. This, of course, is not a viable political platform, but Democrats’ messaging is unilateral and echoed throughout the media, so it should not be dismissed as simple smack talk.
Hillary Clinton even showed up to the convention and delivered a speech, warning Americans not to be “driven down crazy conspiracy rabbit holes!” Whatever that means.
Joe Biden also gave a speech at the DNC this week, which was slightly confusing, but he still managed to insult MAGA voters as illiterate and mentally impaired (he said they “can’t think, can’t read very well”).
Another tired talking point and claim at the DNC was their assertion that Donald Trump is associated with Project 2025, a presidential transition project that is seen as radical by some and published by the Heritage Foundation.
Whether you think the project is radical or not is up to you (read more about it at the link above), but President Trump has made several statements noting that he is not affiliated with the project.
