President Donald Trump this week warned Hamas terrorists what would happen if they continued to delay the release of more hostages in the Middle East, noting “all hell is going to break out” if they refuse.
“If all of the hostages aren’t returned by Saturday at 12:00…I would say cancel [the ceasefire] and all bets are off, let hell break out,” the president told reporters on Monday.
Trump said Hamas should release “all” hostages, not just some in “drips and drabs.”
“Saturday at 12:00, and after that I would say all hell is going to break out…I think a lot of the hostages are dead, I think it’s a great human tragedy,” he continued.
The condition of hostages in the Middle East has raised concern among humanitarian organizations and everyday Americans worried about the situation overseas, including the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.
“Recent evidence from those released, as well as the shocking conditions of the hostages released last Saturday, leaves no room for doubt – time is of the essence, and all hostages must be urgently rescued from this horrific situation,” the organization said in a statement.
President Trump said his warning to Hamas was made on behalf of the United States, not the nation of Israel.
Following this statement, a reporter asked him what he meant by saying “all hell is going to break out” if Hamas does not comply with his demand.
“You’ll find out. And they’ll find out too; Hamas will find out what I mean…these are sick people, and they’ll find out what I mean Saturday at 12:00,” he said firmly.
President Trump’s statements this week come after Hamas said on Monday that they would continue to delay hostage releases. According to the Associated Press, three Israelis were released over the weekend, but they were in tenuous condition.
Hamas has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement, per the outlet.
